Introduction
The Dr. Ivory Johnson, Jr. Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior in the St. Louis City Public School System.
Dr. Johnson graduated Sumner High School and has always been a staunch supporter of the educational needs and mentor of youth across the St. Louis area. He received an Associate Arts Degree, Engineering - Harris Teachers College; Bachelor of Arts, Elementary and Junior High Education - Harris Teachers College; Master of Arts, Education and Elementary Administration - St. Louis University; and Doctor of Philosophy, Urban Education - Saint Louis University.
The list of achievements during Dr. Johnson’s professional journey includes serving as Director of Federal & Special Instructional Programs in the Ferguson-Florissant School District in addition to instructor, faculty advisory and administrator in the St. Louis City and Ferguson-Florissant School Districts.
Dr. Johnson was initiated in 1959 at the St Louis University-Harris Teachers College Chapter, the Beta Nu of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He has served the fraternity at each level including Chapter Polemarch, Province Polemarch and Grand Board of Directors. In recognition of his humanity, achievements and community service, Dr. Ivory Johnson, Jr. is recognized as the 67th recipient of the Elder Watson Diggs Award of
Kappa Alpha Psi®, the second highest award available to a member of the Fraternity. The Guide Right Foundation of St. Louis, Inc., and the St. Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is honored to announce the Dr. Ivory Johnson, Jr. Scholarship.

Award Amount: $5,000
Eligibility Requirements:

Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident

Applicant must identify as Black or African American

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA

Must be graduating St. Louis City Public Schools - senior

Must attend Harris-Stowe University – Fall 2024 – 2025 school year

Must be pursuing a degree in Education

Submit Transcript (unofficial accepted)

100 hours of community service – verified by counselor

Submit three (3) letters of recommendation (i.e. counselor, teacher & community service organization)
